Pining Simon down to offer us a few brief words about himself was difficult, since his greatest love is "penning the minds' landscape," as he puts it, and regards most biographies as "self serving and ridiculously boring."
In short though, we can tell you that Simon was born in Chelmsford, Essex and having lived in Britain all of his life presently resides in deepest, darkest Berkshire.
He's a qualified marketing communications expert and holds the Chartered Institute of Marketing DipM. A successful marketing career path has seen him working with the publishing group Yell, Philips and Whirlpool and also running his own marketing agency.
Being in his 'mid thirties' suggests that Simons' been working in marketing for about fourteen years, which he describes as being "just about as scary as it sounds." During most of this time he has been creating the world of Rune, which is the platform for his novel 'The Fallen Herald.'
He's profoundly grateful to his father, for not only putting up with him but more importantly, for buying Simon his first fantasy novel, when he was just knee high. His personal collection of over five hundred novels now fills an entire bedroom and he thanks his fianceé for her tolerance! Simon stresses that 'The Fallen Herald' is "quite unlike any of them however."
